Welcome to DBS (PG) College. Inspired by the ideals of the great social reformer of the nineteenth century, Maharishi Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the college was established in July 1961 in Dehradun by Dayanand Shiksha Sansthan, Kanpur then named D.A.V College Trust and Management Society. The College memorizes an eminent educationist, a legal luminary, a philanthropist, and a legendary of Arya Samaj Late( Dr) Brijendra Swarup, after whom the college was named Dayanand Brijendra Swarup (Post-Graduate) College, Dehradun abbreviated and popularly known as D.B.S. (P.G.) College, Dehradun. It witnessed the leaderships of visionaries like the Late (Dr) Virendra Swarup,the Late (Shri)Jagendra Swarup, the Late (Dr) M B Srivastava, and many intellectual faculty members who have always contributed to the development of the college. Presently, Shri Manvendra Swarup, Advocate is serving as the Secretary,the Board of Management.
The College is UttarakhandState Government Aided Post Graduate College with Doctoral and Post Doctoral Studies facilities.It is a brand name in higher education in the region and is situated in the heart of the city.One can seethe towering Mussoorie Hills of the north and a relatively dwarf hill of Shiwaliks in the south from the campus of the college.

I, welcome you all to another new academic session at DBS (PG) College, Dehradun. I extend my greetings and warm welcome to all on behalf of DBS (PG) College, Dehradun an institution that completed its 62 year of establishment in 2023. This grand old temple of learning is spread across 14 Departments with UG, PG courses, and facilities for doctoral research and post-doctoral fellowships in some Departments. The College is Uttarakhand State Government Aided Post Graduate College and is affiliated to HNB Garhwal (Central) University, Srinagar, Uttarakhand.

Any student can enroll in U.G. program with any two core subjects and one additional subject (Interdisciplinary) for four semesters. It means student selecting I.D subject in first semester will have to pursue the same subject till 4th semester of U.G. Program.
The core and Interdisciplinary subjects could only be selected from the subject combinations offered by the College.

Students who are applying for UG course will have to study two different Core Subjects 1 and 2(selected from given subjects and one additional subject (Multidisciplinary) for first Year (I and II semesters) and another additional subject (Multidisciplinary ) in second year (III , IV semesters) .
Example : If a student with Economics and Geography as Core subjects selects ‘Sociology’ as an additional subject for first year then he/she will have to study ‘Sociology’ as an additional subject in first year (I, II semesters) and if, he/she selects ‘English Literature’ as an additional subject (MD/Multidisciplinary) for another year then he/she will study ‘English Literature’ in second year (III & IV) as an additional multidisciplinary subject.

** B.A. and B.Sc. Honours Courses are available w.e.f 2022-23 as per NEP Curriculum subject to fulfilment of Eligibility Criteria. Student can opt for Honours Course in fourth year in either of the two core subjects, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria as per University guidelines.
Note : Additional Subjects [Multidisciplinary Course] in BA (Ist semester to IVth semester ) will be provided by the College on the basis of availability of seats.
